How we rank grid connection consultants

Every consultancy is scored out of 100 with the same formula, using only the data in its listing. There is no editorial adjustment.

§01Criteria

Network coverage20Share of the 15 UK DNO licence areas the firm has worked in. On region pages, share of that region's licence areas.
Verification20Full marks if we have verified the listing with evidence and checked it within 12 months; half if verified but older; none if unverified.
Experience10Years trading, capped at 20.

Ties are broken by verification status, then alphabetically, and tied firms share a rank. Sector pages only count projects in that sector, and region pages only count that region's licence areas.

§02Verification

How we verify a listing

  1. The firm, or our editors from public sources, supply the listing data.
  2. We check the company exists and is active, and that contact details reach the firm.
  3. We ask for evidence of the notable projects listed, such as public planning records, press releases or client confirmation.
  4. We check service and DNO coverage claims against that evidence.
  5. A listing is marked verified only when these checks pass. The date of the last check appears on every profile.

Verification lapses to half marks 12 months after the last check, until we check it again.

§03Cadence

Update cadence

  • Every listing is re-checked at least once a year.
  • Corrections reported through a profile are reviewed within ten working days.
  • The ranked page is re-issued with each new edition in January, and updated in between when listings change.
§04Disclosures

Disclosures

  • Ownership. We do not own, operate or hold an interest in any consultancy listed.
  • Featured listings. Firms can pay for a featured listing. Featured firms are labelled “Featured · paid” and their links carry rel="sponsored".
  • No commission. We do not take referral fees or commission on work won through the directory.
  • Links. Links to consultancy websites are marked nofollow.
